All the votes have now been counted and re-counted, checked and scrutinised, preferences have been allocated and, barring a last-minute protest or re-count, the Electoral Commission have announced the successful candidates who have been elected to represent their communities as Councillors on the City of Onkaparinga Council.
It’s been a clean sweep in South Coast Ward, with previous Councillor Richard Peat deciding not to stand due to ill-health and Simon McMahon standing down to run, unsuccessfully, for Mayor. The new Councillors are Paul Yeomans and Lauren Jew.
There are two new Councillors in Southern Vales Ward, too, in Jordan Pritchard and Marisa Bell.
We congratulate the new Councillors and wish the retiring Councillors all the best for the future, and thank them for their service to the community.
We’d also like to thank all the unsuccessful candidates for putting their hands up and having a go.
To learn more about our new Councillors, we thought you might like to look at the answers each of them supplied to a questionnaire we sent out prior to the election, based on their environmental policies.
