Wetlands tour – Aquatic plants discovery
October 30, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
FreeTHIRD TOUR BY POPULAR DEMAND!
Join Paul Green for a tour of two of the Willunga Basin’s iconic wetlands. Hart Road wetland is a constructed wetland designed to capture and treat storm water on the northern edge of Aldinga Scrub. In contrast, The Washpool is a natural brackish wetland on the southern side of Aldinga Scrub. Paul will help us identify the aquatic plants and tell us about their ecological functions.
We will first meet at Hart Road wetland at 2pm. Meet at the carpark at the southern end of Rowley Road, Aldinga Beach. (Do not try and access the meeting point via Hart Road itself.)
Notes:
1. You don’t need to have attended Paul’s earlier talk on aquatic plants of the Willunga Basin to attend this tour.
2. Participants should bring wet weather gear, waterproof footwear, water and snacks, with binoculars, camera and field guides optional.
3. There are no toilets at either site.
