If you’ve driven down Port Road from Aldinga to Aldinga Beach recently, you would have noticed a sudden upsurge in activity along the street frontage of the Aldinga Arts and Eco Village, opposite the Sports Park.
Lou’s Shack, which had been idle for some time, reopened its doors a while ago as Unbound Books, a second-hand bookshop that had been operating in Willunga for some time.
Also making the move to Aldinga are Willunga Gelato, who have opened up Sweet Life Gelateria.
And, to complete the offering, Fresh Coffee of Belle-air operates a food van on weekends with fresh Fleurieu Coffee (which, coincidentally, is roasted fresh a few doors down, also in the Eco Village.)
All in all, the new businesses have given a new lease on life to what was a quiet stretch of Port Road, and are welcome additions to the precinct.
In future editions, we’ll be publishing profiles of each of the new businesses, but you can find their opening hours, etc., by looking up their FaceBook pages.
About the Aldinga Arts and Eco Village
The Arts and Eco Village was founded over twenty years ago, with a commitment to the Arts, Permaculture, and Environmental Sustainability, characterised by ‘caring for the earth; caring for people; living creatively – together’.
The Village has an active and evolving environment, supported by a strong network of community volunteers: Flourishing arts, orchards, and an organic farm, natural vegetation and wildlife.
People help to make the village sustainable – through arts and cultural activities, community building, developing and maintaining our landscape and the Village service infrastructure.
