If you’ve ever driven down Port Road Aldinga, opposite the Aldinga Sports Park you may have noticed a quirky and colourful collection of tents, marquees, tables and chairs at the entrance to the Aldinga Arts and Eco Village.
This the home of Sweet Life Gelateria and Pizzeria, and serves as an ideal introduction to the very Italian concept of “La Dolce Vita”, the sweet life, the art of taking delight in life’s sweetness in poetry, music, everyday speech – and especially food.
Co-proprietor Alessandro Croci was born in Italy, and along with his wife Sally Wise and their three children, has made it his mission to introduce his new home to the pleasures of authentic Italian cuisine.

The family have produced artisan gelato in Willunga for many years, and were a long time favourite at the Willunga Farmers Market. They made the move to Aldinga four years ago, and late last year also began offering pizza to their customers.
Like their gelato, Sweet Life pizzas are the real deal. While most pizzas made locally are Napolitana style, with a thick, crusty base, Sweet Life pizzas are definitely made Romana style, incorporating a thinner pizza base with more generous toppings.
Sweet Life is very much a family business, with Sally and daughter Olivia working behind the counter, while son Sebastian dishes up the pizzas. Their other son, Nicholas, is in charge of making the Gelati.
Sweet Life Gelateria and Pizzeria are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while the pizzas are available Friday and Saturday night.
If you’d like a taste of La Dolce Vita, you can go no further than Sweet Life Gelateria and Pizzeria in Aldinga.
