Mike Holden was born and raised in South Australia. Mike began working as a farm hand while still at school, learning responsibility, resilience, and the value of hard work.
After finishing school, he joined the production line at Mitsubishi Motors, where teamwork, discipline, and accountability were essential. Mike went on to build a long career in the building and construction industry establishing his own successful construction business. As a small business owner, Mike understands the pressures of running a business, employing local people, and navigating regulation while delivering results.
Living on Kangaroo Island, Mike founded and built the island’s first microbrewery—designed, constructed, and operated from the ground up. The business supports local jobs, works with local suppliers, and strengthens the island’s tourism economy.
Mike has also served for many years as a volunteer with the South Australian Country Fire Service, including as a brigade captain. Leading volunteers in emergencies has reinforced the importance of preparedness, strong infrastructure, and decisive leadership.
Mike will be fighting for better transport links, resilient roads and infrastructure, emergency readiness, and real support for local jobs and businesses.
Mike Holden is ready to be a strong voice who delivers practical solutions for the people of Mawson in the South Australian Parliament.
