Thanks to recent changes to Electoral Laws in South Australia, the Party will be given Advanced Funding that is intended to “level the playing field” in election campaigns. The committee plans on making the most of this opportunity.
We will be launching our election campaign and our Legislative Council lead candidate at the Riverland Field Day event on 12 – 13 September. This will mark the start of a month long, state-wide tour of regional and metro areas. The team looks forward to catching up with members and recruiting volunteers and candidates who will fly the flag for Cannabis at the 2026 election.
The Party will also have a stand at the Yorke Peninsular Field Days event from 30 September – 2 October with samples of hemp and hemp products. At both of these events, we will have merchandise for sale, giveaways for members and a petition to sign asking the State Govt to amend legislation around the discriminatory drug driving and workplace drug testing laws for patients who are using prescribed medicinal cannabis.
We will be hard to miss as we tour the state in our mobile billboard covered in Hemp leaves and carrying our message. It will have a QR code directing members and the public to our website with tour itinerary which will be updated regularly; and have photos of the tour events. So keep an eye out and give us a toot or snap a pic to send to us, if you see us out and about!
Expressions of Interest are still open for the House of Assembly candidates. If you are interested in standing as a candidate, please reach out by contacting us at secretarysa@legalisecannabis.org.au or come have a yarn to our team when the tour reaches a town near you.
The Committee is working hard to make SA the connecting link, giving the Legalise Cannabis movement elected members from “coast to coast”. We look forward to meeting up with members, supporters and the curious as we do the rounds of the state.
